The Chapter I of the Charter of the United Nations entitled "Objectives and Principles" (purposes and principles) and contains Articles 1 and 2 of the Charter of the United Nations .

In the first article, the United Nations (UNO) defines the goals of peace and international security , the creation and strengthening of friendly international relations and cooperation of an economic, social, cultural and humanitarian nature and the strengthening of human rights .

The second article stipulates the equality of all states and demands the resolution of interstate conflicts by peaceful means. The territorial integrity and political independence of every other state must be respected. The threat or use of force , as well as the support of activities against another country are clearly prohibited .

This prohibition of violence is a clear extension of the " Paris Treaty " ( Briand-Kellogg Pact ), which since 1928 has outlawed every war of aggression under international law.
