Karashi ( Japanese 芥子 or 辛 子 ) is the Japanese name for a spice made from brown mustard from the Cernua group ( Brassica juncea var. Cernua ) and is available ready-to-use as a paste in tubes or as a powder in cans that can be mixed with water.

Karashi is used in oden and other Japanese dishes. Depending on the dish, karashi can serve as a spice alone or with wasabi .
