Catalog number (CD)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As an identifier, a catalog number is intended to enable a CD to be clearly identified in the sense of product identification for commercial items.

The CD-ROM standard format provides for the use of the 13-digit UPC / EAN code. The catalog number is stored in the subcode on the CD and indicated as a barcode on the packaging of the audio CD . The number is interpreted as a decimal number and written in binary code in a data field with a length of 52 bits. If there is no catalog number, a zero is saved or the corresponding subcode is omitted entirely.
