The former Eisenach commercial vocational school is a listed building in Eisenach in Thuringia . It is located on the property at Georgenstrasse 26 in the city center of Eisenach in the immediate vicinity of the Black Fountain .

history

The building was erected in the first half of the 19th century in the classicism style. From 1842 to 1919 the building served as the office of the Eisenach entrepreneurial family von Eichel-Streiber, who had the interior decorated with rich stucco on the walls and ceiling, some of which has been preserved to this day. The city acquired the building in 1919 and rented it or used it until 1957, among other things as a welfare center for lung patients and as an employment office. In 1957 the building became the property of the trade organization , which converted it and converted it into a commercial vocational school . In 1980 the building was placed under a preservation order. The house served as a vocational school until 1989, when the city bought it back in 1990. The building has been empty since the vocational school moved out; the city sold it in 1993 to a private individual who did not use it and left it to decay.

Dry rot and woodworm infestation affected the building so that there was a risk of collapse in the meantime. In 2009, the investor in the neighboring “Am Markt” car park acquired the building and initiated steps to secure the building.
