Wine varnish

Wine press lacquer is a solvent-free, acid-resistant lacquer that is applied to the metal parts that come into contact with the juice or wine during the winemaking process . This is to prevent the wine from taking on an iron taste or a brown hue.

For direct contact with juice or wine, the white wine press varnish and vat varnish are primarily suitable. However, it should be noted that alcoholic beverages make hardening more difficult. Acid-resistant and food-safe lacquers based on alcohol are also suitable for the maintenance of fruit presses and grinders. They can be used for both metal and wood. Spirit (= denatured ethanol ) should be used to dilute the paint . If the wood is untreated, the lacquer must be thinned heavily. Priming is not recommended.

In the beekeeping, wooden feed frames and liquid feed troughs are filled with vat varnish.
