To the work

The story Children's Story was written in Salzburg in the spring and summer of 1980 after Handke returned to Austria. It is a description of the parenting model by the father. Peter Handke describes the first ten years he experienced alone with his first daughter Amina, who comes from the author's first marriage to Libgart Schwarz . In addition to this problem, attending school in a foreign language area plays a serious role. The story Children's Story is not intended to be a parenting guide, but rather describes the father's confrontation with jealousy, his crises and some outbursts of anger in a relatively penetrating way.
