Kiyotsune ( Japanese 清 経 ), the name of a hero, is the title of a Nō drama by Seami . The piece is a second game in the Nō category.

action

  1. Prelude: Kiyotsunes Valsall, Awazu no Saburō, appears, is capital on the way. He wants to deliver a lock of hair to Kiyotune's wife. Name, route and arrival name. (The first half is missing in this Nō, in which the spirit of the departed appears in an unrecognizable form.)
  2. Conversation between the vassal and the woman. Discussion and handover of the lock of hair. Choir. The vassal exits through the side door while the choir is singing, or, depending on the Nō school, he remains quietly apart until the end of the piece.
  3. Kiyotsune appears as a ghost. "Is it a dream, is it reality?" Exchange speech between husband and wife. Choir.
  4. Exchange speech between wife and choir. The wife's allegations that Kiyotsune did not think about the future of his gender, threw his life away and that his wife now has to live lovelessly, increases the inner action. Now Kiyotsune utters his last earthly experience: "It seemed like flocks of herons on green pines, it was the white banners of the enemy, the countless Feins. And nowhere more rescue, the Taira clan smashed and disintegrated. Truly the God in Usa ( 宇佐 ) has spoken true! There was no more hope in the world.   2. ↑ The piece refers to the historical Taira no Kiyotsune ( 平 清 経 ), who fell into the water during the Gempei Wars . Hata Kōhei ( 秦 恒 平 , * 1935) published a novella in 1969 with the title "Kiyotsune Nyūsui" ( 清 経 入 水 ), which deals with the same topic. Hata received the Dazai Osamu Prize for this .
