Cleomenes of Rhegion

Cleomenes of Rhegion (Latin form: Cleomenes of Rhegium ) was an ancient dithyramb poet .

He was criticized by Chionides and Aristophanes . He seems to have written erotic literature, since Epicrates names him together with Sappho , Meletus and Lamynthios . His allusions to other authors make a date in the late 5th century BC. BC probably. Among other things, he wrote a work called Meleager , which has not survived and dealt with Meleager and the hunt for the Calydonian boar .
