Click (military)

As clicking is mainly in US military jargon , the distance of one kilometers respectively. The origin of the word in this context is unknown. One theory it leads to a shortening or colloquial back "km" slurring the word. Its use became popular in the Vietnam War in the 1960s. In English-speaking countries it is sometimes written as “click”, “klik” or “clic”.

When speaking of a click, it can also be an undimensioned short distance.
