Knudsenstrom

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The transition from viscous flow to molecular flow is called Knudsen flow . It prevails in the fine vacuum area (10 −3 to 1 mbar). The free path of the particles is then comparable to the diameter of the line, i.e. the Knudsen number about 1.

The product of pressure p and pipe diameter d for a certain gas at a certain temperature can also serve as a characteristic variable for the various types of flow.
