Koblenz Huskies was an American football club from Koblenz .

history

After the club was founded as a department of the Coblenzer Turngesellschaft eV in 1984, the club was able to improve steadily in the first few years. In the first season in 1985, the team led by US coach Lonnie Lee Neal finished fourth in the Middle Regional League. In the three following years they occupied top places in the regional league, became runner-up in 1989 and rose to the 2nd Bundesliga through further victories in the play-off games. Despite the departure of many American top performers, they reached fourth place in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1990. A year later, after the coach and other top performers left, he was relegated to the regional league, where he stayed for the next few years. In 1994, under the name 'Rheinland Huskies', a merger with the Neuwied Rockets football team and victory in the Rhineland-Palatinate Cup took place. Despite a team of 60 players and 4 coaches, they were only able to place themselves in the midfield of the newly founded league and were far behind the expected goal of the merger. Because of the poor performance and lack of players, the team was disbanded in 1996.
In 2008 the Koblenzer Huskies were re-founded by the then coach Lonni Lee Neal. Due to internal differences that led to the separation from the Coblenzer Turngesellschaft, the planned game operations in 2009 could not be started. In the 2010 season the team started in the Landesliga Mitte. Due to some players leaving and the moderate performance in the state league - they finished last place without a win - they started in 2011 in the Aufbauliga Rheinlandpfalz / Saarland. There, too, no noteworthy successes could be achieved, so that in 2012 it was decided not to take part in the league events. Furthermore, they separated from head coach Lonnie Neal. As the new head coach for the 2013 national league season, coach Mike Sholars, former coach of the Trier Stampers, was signed up. During his coaching career, Sholars achieved national titles in Sweden, Denmark and Norway, but there was no playful success with the Huskies. During the current 2014 season, the game was stopped and the team finally dissolved.
