Colonate

Colonate means:

  • the name of an Irish missionary and martyr in the 7th century; Companion of St. Kilian ("Colonate" without article ). see: Colonate (saint)
  • Until the 19th century a type of peasant ownership similar to the fiefdom (predominantly "the colonate"), which developed from the Roman colonate ("the colonate"). see: Colonate (law)
  • a farmer in a bog colony ("the colony"), e.g. B. the colonate Wübbe Meyer, whose courtyard is exhibited in the museum village of Cloppenburg
