Combi head

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A combination head is a component of a tape recorder or cassette recorder . To save costs, the usual separate speaking and listening heads are combined in one component. This cheaper and space-saving variant is bought with a compromise in acoustic quality (head gap) and the need to switch the head from recording to playback, because the head can only be used either for recording or for playback. So you have no posterior ligament control.
