Commission examination

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An examination before a committee is not carried out by an individual examiner , but by a committee of at least two people. For example, bachelor, diploma and doctoral examinations are always carried out before a committee , and the oral part of the Matura also takes place before a committee.

Austria

In Austria, depending on the university and field of study, an examination before a committee is also provided for the third or fourth repetition of an examination of courses that are not part of the examination, and often also the second at the request of the student. The examination before a committee protects the student, at least theoretically, from the arbitrariness of examiners and thus from the threat of de-registration.

Appeal process

Also as a result of an appeal procedure against the “failure of a class”, one or more examinations before a committee can occur, over which the student can subsequently advance if the result is positive. These exams only take place if the documents used to check the grade appear to be inadequate for a decision.

construction

If an appeal is made against an assessment of a so-called school work subject, the possible examination consists of an oral part and a written part. The latter is comparable to regular school work and, depending on the school level, can extend over two hours. The oral section takes place after completing the written one and is similar in its structure to an oral exam during the school year according to § 5 Performance Assessment Ordinance (LBV). They are made up of at least two questions or tasks which, if possible, have no thematic connection to one another. In examinations before a committee that concern secondary subjects , the written part is omitted.

evaluation

Only the results of the test (s) may be used for assessment; Achievements from the teaching year are not taken into account. The clef resembles the regular scheme; It is common practice that 60% of the maximum number of points are required for languages, 48 or 50% are required for the other subjects in order to be able to graduate positively. In contrast to repeat exams, that grade is the final assessment of the subject with which the exams are concluded.
