Conidiogenesis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The conidiogenesis is the process of formation of conidia on or in a conidiogenous cell.

A distinction is made between two different types of conidiogenesis, which differ in the time at which the septa is formed. In blastic conidiogenesis , the conidia is only pinched off after formation, whereas in Thallic conidiogenesis the conidia is pinched off before formation. In both species, however, the conidia only ripens after the pinching process.
