Connector (medical technology)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A connector in medical technology usually describes a connection option for hoses or syringes to a catheter . Depending on the type of catheter, connectors have several Luer connections for a wide variety of functions. They often carry the most important product data in order to be able to clearly assign the catheter.

In angioplasty in the balloon dilatation procedure , connectors have one to three connections: One to "inflate" the balloon with a special inflation syringe, one to insert the guide wire and, if necessary, one to apply additional fluids.
