Lists on the subject

The Korambi or Karambit is a dagger from Sumatra.

description

The Korambi or Karambit has a strongly curved, sickle-shaped, single-edged blade. The blade becomes narrower from the handle to the location and tapers. Some versions have one or more hollow sections. The cutting edge is on the convex side of the blade. The handle has no guard and is usually made of horn, wood or plastic. The shape of the booklet varies, it can be elongated or ring-shaped. The booklet is usually decorated with carvings. The sheaths are made of horn, wood or leather, or in the more modern versions of plastic and are adapted to the respective blade shape. They are often open on one side to make it easier to pull the knife. The Korambi is still used today in the martial arts Silat and Eskrima . In use it is used with upward strokes.
