The health insurance mathematics is a branch of actuarial mathematics . As the name suggests, it deals with the subject of health insurance . This refers to health insurances that are suitable to replace the statutory health insurance in whole or in part (substitute health insurance). The substitute health insurance is operated by private health insurance companies. In the Federal Republic of Germany, according to Section 12 of the VAG, it may only be operated in the manner of life insurance . It follows from this requirement that a health insurance company must name a responsible actuary in accordance with Section 11 a VAG .

Tasks of health insurance mathematics
