history

The first honorary directors were the incumbent district administrators Franz von Wülfing and later Eugen von Loë . The first cantor of the Kreissparkasse was Johann Marnach from Siegburg. 8,000 thalers had been entrusted to him as a deposit, and he had to prove his own creditworthiness with a deposit. The first customer was the Siegburg doctor Theodor Joseph Willing. In the founding year, the main book of liabilities records 159 other payers, including Gustav Humperdinck, senior teacher at the Siegburg Latin School and father of the composer Engelbert Humperdinck .

In 1854, 46 secondary tenants who lived in all 17 mayorships of the district were named in an official gazette. Ultimately, the early branch network failed, and in 1879 the last four branches were closed.

In 1907 the office moved into the newly built Siegburger Kreishaus, and in 1924 into the house on Siegburger Markt number 1, which was to be the head office for 30 years.

In 1913, giro traffic was introduced and the branch network was restarted, starting with Eitorf and Troisdorf .

As a result of the emergency ordinances of 1931, the Kreissparkasse took over the Troisdorfer Sparkasse and the municipal Sparkassen Siegburg and Königswinter. The Kreissparkasse built a new building and in autumn 1956 moved with its 207 employees to downtown Siegburg.

With the municipal reorganization in 1969, 13 branches of the former Kreissparkasse Bonn were transferred to the Kreissparkasse of the Rhein-Sieg district. In 1975 an own data center was opened in Sankt Augustin . In 1979 the first foundation Für uns Pänz was established. In 1981 the first ATM was put into operation.

Before its merger, the Kreissparkasse was the largest credit institution in the Rhein-Sieg district with 70 branches.
