War memorial on Heseper Weg

The Heseper Weg war memorial was erected in 1928/29 by the Altendorf community, which existed until 1929, for those who died in the two world wars. It is located on Heseper Weg in what is now the Nordhorn district and is a listed building .

A roundabout resting on ten pillars and the star-shaped paving "create an ideal space, open on all sides to the natural environment." In the middle there is a cuboid with the names of the 91 fallen soldiers of the First World War . Black granite slabs with the names of those who fell from the Altendorf rifle club during World War II were attached to two pillars .

The memorial hit the headlines in 2006 when the NPD held a rally and wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial after a city-wide poster campaign with right-wing extremist content on the day of memorial.
