Art loan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From an art loan is called in the lending of works of art, to provide short-term financial flexibility, without the usual drawbacks and costs of sale. It offers similar advantages as conventional financing with a fixed term or as a flexible framework. Art loans are often used by art dealers, galleries, museums or collectors because they have high quality works of art. The most common case of this type of loan is to borrow on an existing work of art in order to finance a new work of art while excluding private liability. Art loans are often only granted in Germany with a market value of 100,000 euros or more and usually have a loan-to-value ratio (LTV) of up to 30 percent of the market value of the art objects.
