Solution heat treatment

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Solution annealing (or homogenization ) [Engl .: Solution Heat Treatment SHT] is a glow , the most in austenitic applied steels. With steel it takes place in a temperature range between 1020 and 1080 ° C. However, the temperature range for other materials will vary. This annealing process is also used for deformation instead of recrystallization annealing ; it also serves to improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steels by evenly distributing the alloying elements. Solution annealing is also often used for age-hardenable aluminum alloys . According to DIN 8580, annealing is one of the manufacturing processes for changing material properties.

The (condition) designation of the material condition according to EN 515 is: "W". This designation indicates a stable state. It only applies to alloys that harden spontaneously at room temperature.
