L. Tenryu Tenbreul

Ludger Tenryu Tenbreul (* 1956 ) is a long-time student of Taisen Deshimaru , the founder of Sōtō Zen in Europe.

After his death he became a student of Narita Shuyu , from whom he received Shiho in 1986 , the transmission of the Dharma in the lineage of Kodo Sawaki . Tenryu Tenbreul is President of the Zen Association Germany eV, founded in 1984 and based in Berlin.

Master Tenryu is Dendokyoshi, a teacher recognized by the Sōtō-Zen school. He teaches in the Mokushozan Jakkoji temple in Schönböken and in the Shogozan Zenkoji in Berlin .

Students of Master Tenryu who have been confirmed as Dendokyoshi by the Sōtō-shu are M. Shudo André (director of the Zen-Dôjô Ryu-Mon in Hamburg), T. Kairyu Quitschau and A. Seihō Woller (director of the Zen-Dojo Mokusho-Do in Münster ).

In 2011 the book "Moon in the middle of autumn" ( ISBN 3-936018-67-7 ) was published, it is a collection of expressions, lectures and Teishos (= oral instruction) by Ludger Tenryu Tenbreul.
