La Mákina is a merengue group from Puerto Rico .

Career

La Mákina was founded in 1996 by Fernan Colón and Orlando Santana. Orlando Santana wrote nine of the ten songs from her first album, which was released in 1996. The hit "La Reina" became a huge success in the merengue scene. In October 1997 her second album "Los Reyes del Ritmo" was released. La Mákina managed to establish the merengue internationally on various tours. They had their breakthrough with the hit "Voy a la Escuela", followed by others such as "Yo No Me Muero Por Nadie", "No Me Digas que No", "Están Bailando", "Sufrir Y Llorar", "Tus Besos" , "Celosa", "Maria, Maria, Maria", "Ojos Café", "Piel Canela" and "Chispa".
