The Lake Point Tower is a residential building on Lake Michigan in Chicago , north of the Chicago River .
The building, built in 1968, was designed by the architects John Heinrich and George Schipporeit , both students of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe . When it was completed, it was the tallest apartment building in the world.
Almost all of the 720 or so condominiums have a view of the lake and some of the Chicago skyline .
The facade consists of bronze-colored solar control glass with dark aluminum profiles. It is stretched around the building as a curtain wall and shows no subdivisions. Due to the strong winds, there were no balconies. A publicly accessible restaurant is located in a round structure on the roof of the building.
