Lambert T. Koch

Lambert Tobias Koch (born July 23, 1965 in Hering near Darmstadt ) is a German economist and since 2008 rector of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

Life

Koch studied economics in Mainz and Würzburg and earned a diploma in economics. After completing his doctorate , he completed his habilitation at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . From 1999 to 2008 Koch headed the chair for “Economics, especially business start-ups and economic development” at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. At the same time he was director of the Institute for Start-up and Innovation Research (IGIF). He also accepted invitations to guest professorships in Cleveland ( USA ), Klagenfurt ( Austria ) and Košice ( Slovakia ). From October 2005 to June 2008, Koch was the dean of the economics faculty of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal , whose profile he was jointly responsible for creating the “Schumpeter School of Business and Economics”. Since September 1, 2008 he has been the rector of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

Koch also acts as chairman of the NRW state rectors' conference and was a board member of the Digital University of North Rhine-Westphalia (until 09/2018). He is also chairman of the university council of the Hochschule Fresenius with locations in Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Idstein, Berlin and New York as well as a member of the advisory board of the Technical Academy Wuppertal with locations in Nuremberg, Bochum, Cottbus, Wildau and Wuppertal. Koch is also a member of the boards of trustees of scientific foundations, such as the Dr. Werner Jackstädt Foundation and the Vera and Georg Spahn Foundation.

Koch's academic interest is primarily in the areas of start-up funding, innovation and technology policy , strategic networks and regional and international economic development. In addition, there is a study of epistemological and evolutionary economic issues. The results of his scientific work have been published in numerous books and journal articles. From autumn 2011 to autumn 2012 he was invited by the Federal Chancellery to participate as an expert in the “Future Dialogue of the Federal Chancellor”.
