State Fire Brigade Museum Saxony-Anhalt
The State Fire Brigade Museum Saxony-Anhalt is located in Stendal . It is administered and operated by dedicated helpers in their free time.
history
The museum was established on May 8, 1993.
It was preceded by the association Feuerwehrhistorik Altmark eV , which was founded on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the voluntary fire brigade of the city of Stendal in 1972 to create an exhibition about the history of the fire brigade with photo documents and old fire fighting technology and to present it at demonstrations.
In particular, the museum deals with the history of fire services in central Germany. Although it would be more accurate historically to call the museum the “Central German Fire Brigade Museum”, this was not implemented due to the political reorganization in the post-reunification period.
terrain
The museum grounds at Arneburger Straße 146a is a former disaster control warehouse in the GDR. It consists of three buildings and an outdoor area.
The ground floor museum building houses five exhibition rooms as well as an adjoining administration and social area. A large part of the vehicle technology is located in the large hall. The remaining vehicles are in the four-person workshop and are presented outside in good weather.
