Charts

Perry sings Last Friday Night on her California Dreams Tour.

The song became Perry's sixth number one hit in the United States and her fifth from Teenage Dream . This makes her the artist with the most number one hits of the 21st century and the first artist in Billboard history to land five number one hits from one album. With that, Katy Perry set the record for Michael Jackson , who scored five number one hits from his album Bad . With her five number one hits, Perry was number one for a total of 19 weeks, while Michael Jackson was at the top with his songs for 7 weeks. However, it took Michael Jackson a little over nine months to score five number one hits, while Perry took over a year to score five number one hits. Michael Jackson set the record with physical sound carriers (records, cassettes, CDs) of his singles, Katy Perry mainly through download sales of her singles.

Perry tweeted about this success: "What an awakening!" “I'm so proud that this energetic little song Last Friday Night (TGIF) is officially number 1 and has made history.” Thanks to the fans (and buyers): “You know I couldn't have done it without you , I owe you a lot. So all give yourself a strong "high five" handshake. "

In an official statement with Billboard Magazine on the success, Katy Perry stated: “Getting # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 is always a great moment, but if you make a little history with this number one hit, remember how many millions of people are drawn to this event. I thank everyone who made this possible. I've been singing into my hairbrush since I was nine years old, I've had big dreams, but this success is many times bigger than my dreams. What a nice birthday present for 'Teenage Dream'! "
