Runtime (archiving)

In archiving, the term is the period between the creation and completion of an archival unit, a description unit or an inventory.

For the term, the year is always used as the time unit, for the beginning and the end of the organic growth of the archive unit for the date. Also as a search function to find archival material in the archive inventory . The determination of the duration of archival material is an important part of the archival description work and is used to limit the time of research results.

When entering the title , the beginning and end year are connected with a hyphen (....-....) A fiscal year can be denoted with a slash (.... / ....). If longer interruptions in the runtime are to be displayed, the runtime information must be separated by a comma (....-...., ....-....). Developed dates are put in square brackets ([....-....]). Pre- and post-files as well as dates of attached documents which deviate from the term of the archival unit are noted in round brackets. Older documents before the beginning of the year, younger documents after the end of the year ((....-....) ....-.... (....-....)).
