Laura Devon

Laura Devon (* 23. May 1931 in Chicago , Illinois as Mary Briley ; † 19th July 2007 in Beverly Hills , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Devon studied journalism at Wayne State University . In 1954 her son Kevin was born, with whom she moved from Detroit to Los Angeles in the early 1960s . Between 1960 and 1967 she had guest roles as an actress in numerous television series; Among other things, she was in the western series Thousand Miles of Dust , Bonanza and Big Valley . She was also seen in five Hollywood films. She made her feature film debut in 1964 on the side of Tony Curtis and Debbie Reynolds in Vincente Minnelli's comedy film Goodbye Charlie . The following year, she starred alongside James Caan as the female lead in Howard Hawks ' Motorsport - action film Red Line 7000 . Her last feature film was the crime film Gunn by Blake Edwards in 1967 , which was based on Edwards' television series of the same name, Peter Gunn . Here she was also seen interpreting the second title of Henry Mancini ; these were released as a single by RCA Victor , which was not commercially successful.

Devon was married to actor Brian Kelly between 1962 and 1966 . After the divorce, she married the film composer Maurice Jarre in 1967 , who adopted her son . This made her the stepmother of the musician Jean-Michel Jarre and the production designer Stéfanie Jarre . At the same time she ended her acting career.

The marriage was divorced in 1984 and Devon lived in seclusion in Beverly Hills. She succumbed to heart failure at the age of 76 .
