Laurence J. Peter

Laurence Johnston Peter (born September 16, 1919 in Vancouver , British Columbia , Canada , † January 12, 1990 in Palos Verdes , California , USA ) was a Canadian-American teacher , educational and social advisor, school psychologist , author and professor .

He became known for the Peter Principle named after him .

biography

Peter was born in Vancouver and worked as a teacher from 1941. He earned a PhD from Washington State University in 1963 .

In 1964 Peter moved to California , where he became director of the Evelyn Peace Center for Prescriptive Teaching and coordinator of programs for Emotionally Disturbed Children at the University of Southern California . In 1966 he became an Associate Professor of Education.
