Lee Quigg Thacker Bound

The Lee-Quigg-Thacker limit , English Lee-Quigg-Thacker bound , is a theoretical upper limit for the mass of the Higgs boson in quantum field theory . It was named after Benjamin Lee , Chris Quigg and Hank Thacker who discovered this border in 1977. According to Lee, Quigg and Thacker, the Higgs mass must not exceed the value of m c  ≈ 1  TeV . In addition to the Lee-Quigg-Thacker limit, the Linde-Weinberg limit with a value of approximately 7.5 GeV exists as the lower limit for the Higgs mass . These theoretical limitations created a window for the search for the Higgs boson at particle accelerators . In 2012, researchers at the Large Hadron Collider found a previously undiscovered particle with m ≈ 125 GeV, which can be assumed to be the standard Higgs.

A quantum field theory in which there are no Higgs bosons but massive vector bosons that behave like the W bosons of the Standard Model is inconsistent.
