Athletics community

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The athletics community (LG) is the merger of the athletics departments of various sports clubs to form a training and starting community. According to the athletics regulations of the German Athletics Association , it does not have the character of a club itself. A LG is to be formed according to local criteria, the athletes of the LG remain members of their parent clubs, but start in the LG's competition clothing for the LG. In contrast to the starting community (SG), which is limited to individual age groups, clubs can only bring men, women and youth to a LG in their entirety. Athletes from one LG, however, are not allowed to form starting communities with another LG or another club. Another difference between the starting community and the athletics community is the number of participating clubs. While it is limited to a maximum of three for starting communities, there are no limits for athletics communities. Many LGs have eight or more parent clubs, e.g. B. LG Olympia Dortmund (2016 nine parent clubs) or LG Stadtwerke München (ten parent clubs).

Just as in the area of the German Athletics Association, the change of club only takes place on January 1st, membership in a LG can only begin on January 1st or end on December 31st.
