Tap water zone
The insurers have divided Germany into four tap water zones depending on the hardness of the drinking water .
Zone 1 means soft water, Zone 4 means hard water. Since hard water is more likely to attack water pipes, the insurers have assessed their risk for the tap water damage from tap water zones covered by the building insurance.
