Promoting learning

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term facilitating learning comes from user-friendliness and ergonomics. Ease of learning plays an important role in software ergonomics and serves as a criterion there.

A dialogue is conducive to learning if it supports and guides the user in learning how to use the interactive system.

The general mental flexibility of the worker should be maintained or promoted. To this end, he must be offered opportunities to maintain or further develop his professional qualifications. On the one hand, this presupposes work tasks and work equipment that are sufficiently complex and configurable so that they allow the worker to further develop his abilities, skills and knowledge. On the other hand, the worker must be provided with the necessary qualification requirements that enable him to master the task and the work equipment.

Dependencies with other criteria

The criterion of learning and development opportunities is more or less closely dependent on the criteria of diversity of requirements, holism, transparency, feedback, and autonomy , as these have an influence on the worker's learning and development opportunities. A task that is holistic and has a variety of requirements will also require correspondingly different abilities, skills and knowledge and thus offer good learning and development opportunities. The transparency of a task is an essential prerequisite for its learnability, feedback on the progress of work and the result of the qualification as well as for professional development opportunities (e.g. higher income, promotion). Independence in fulfilling tasks is a prerequisite for the worker to be creative himself and thus to further develop his abilities, skills and knowledge. Promoting cooperation and communication opens up opportunities for social support and social learning, both aspects that contribute significantly to the development opportunities of a worker.

properties

In addition to all the characteristics associated with the above criteria that contribute to the learning and development opportunities of a worker, two characteristics should be separately pointed out here:

Learning opportunities (qualification retention and expansion)

Workers should be offered ongoing opportunities to further develop their professional qualifications, with the qualification content offered covering a broad spectrum.

Professional development opportunities

The further development of the learning opportunities should be linked to professional development opportunities in order to offer the workers appropriate motivation and incentives.

The two following criteria for evaluating the organization and the tasks of promoting cooperation and communication as well as data protection / data security are also relevant for evaluating the software.
