Leslie A. Pope

Leslie Ann Pope (born June 2, 1954 in Bowling Green , Kentucky - † May 6, 2020 in Venice , California ) was an American production designer .

Life

Pope began her career in film crew in 1982 in the external prop in musical comedies Splitz . She first worked as a production designer in 1984, and her early films include Martin Scorsese's The After Midnight and Alan Parker's Angel Heart . From the mid-2000s, she appeared in several superhero films , including The Amazing Spider-Man , The Return of the First Avenger, and Ant-Man . Her work includes 40 productions.

She and Jeannine C. Oppewall were nominated for the 2004 Oscar in the category Best Production Design and at the Satellite Awards for the film drama Seabiscuit - With the Will to Success , but both awards this year went to The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King . Pope was also nominated twice for the “Excellence in Production Design Award” of the Art Directors Guild , in 2013 for Django Unchained and in 2015 for The Return of the First Avenger , but could not win the award.
