Leyla Gencer Voice Competition
The Leyla Gencer Voice Competition is an international singing competition that has been held since 1995 by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts together with the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in honor of the Turkish opera singer Leyla Gencer . The competition has been held every two years since 2008.
Before the actual competition in Istanbul, preliminary rounds will take place in various European cities.
The jury can award first, second and third prizes, which in 2012 were endowed with € 12,500, € 7500 and € 3500. A first prize does not have to be awarded. In addition, the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala awards three-month study visits.
