Libertad is a village in the state of Barinas , Venezuela. The place now has about 10,000 inhabitants. The region was under the administration of the Nuevo Reino de Granada until 1777 during colonial times. From then on it became part of the Capitanía de Venezuela. The village was founded between 1820 and 1825.
