Lidlhof

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lidlhof is a Grazer Edelhof, which lies in the Idlhofgasse. Its history goes back to the 16th century. Its name can be traced back to the small Idlsdorf settlement that was once located here. The entire property was built into residential houses in the 19th century.

history

The land on which the Lidlhof is located belonged to the Weisseneckerhof and was sold by Wolfgang von Weisseneck to Lukas Graßwein in 1529. In 1546 it went back to Hans von Weisseneck. His son dissolved the Meierhof located here and belonging to the Weisseneckerhof in 1557 and handed over the management grounds to Keuschler.

The remaining garden was sold to Eberhard Cressio in 1591, who built a small noble residence, the Lidlhof, here. In 1603 his son sold the farm to Hans Prunner von Vasoldsberg. The garden and courtyard were seized by Ehrenreich von Pfeilberg in 1627 and sold to Maria Narringer. Since this was a Protestant , she had to leave Styria and in 1629 sold the estate to Hans Wilhelm von Mindorf. Since his daughter was a minor and therefore not entitled to inheritance, the property went to her cousin Hans Christof Freiherr von Mindorf in 1634. From 1648 his daughter Maria Elisabeth took over the management of the estate. Her two sons and her grandson succeeded her as administrators.

In 1719 the property was acquired by Maximilian Franz Graf Tattenbach after lengthy inheritance disputes. His daughter Walpurga received the estate as a dowry in 1749 , but had to hand it over to her brother Josef Ferdinand in 1769 because of high debts. He sold the deeply indebted farm in 1777 to Ferdinand Freiherrn von Pichl. A large part of the purchase price was confiscated from the main creditor, Max Josef Wildstein. In 1797 Anton Kroppay acquired the "Idlhof Castle". From this time on it remained in civil ownership and was built into residential houses in the 19th century.
