Supplier development

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a supplier development of direct engagement is z. B. a car manufacturer at a supplier (supplier). First, the customer carries out an audit at the supplier, i.e. a supplier audit . Current services of the supplier (current status) are used and compared with the target status contractually agreed between both parties. In this audit, all - in the customer's opinion - necessary improvements to the supplier's quality management system are identified. The supplier is then requested to carry out the necessary measures to expand quality management and to provide plausible evidence of the concrete implementation to the customer at a previously agreed time. With these measures, the manufacturer wants to ensure that the supplied parts and services correspond to the contractually agreed quality, quantity and delivery time. The audit can also relate to individual areas of the supplier with the background, e.g. B. to improve logistics . Previous quality deficits do not necessarily lead to a change of supplier, but to targeted support measures that can relate to both technological and organizational aspects .

The supplier development can thus mean an intervention in the company policy of a supplier and its quality management , depending on the audit result.

In addition, further supplier audits are carried out by the customer at regular intervals in order to induce the supplier to continuously develop his quality management system. These supplier audits should not be confused with the certification audits of the regular certification bodies such as B. DQS , Germanischer Lloyd or TÜV etc. where the quality management system is checked regularly (e.g. once a year) based on the ISO 9001 regulations .
