List of entries for the best foreign language film for the 1974 Academy Awards

The following 20 films, all from different countries, were nominations in the Best Foreign Language Film category for the 1974 Academy Awards . The highlighted titles were the five ultimately nominated films, which come from France, Israel, the Netherlands, Switzerland and West Germany. The Oscar went to France for the second time in a row, and the award went to The American Night (La Nuit américaine) by director François Truffaut .

Finland and East Germany debuted for the first time with their film contribution for this award.
