List of United States Ambassadors in Kyrgyzstan
The list of ambassadors of the United States in Kyrgyzstan provides an overview of the heads of the US diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan since 1992. The former Soviet Union republic declared itself independent on August 31, 1991; the United States recognized the new state on December 26th of that year. On February 1, 1992, the US was Embassy in Bishkek opened, initially headed by Charge d'Affaires Edmund McWilliams was. With Edward Hurwitz the first official took Ambassador in September of the same year on his service.
