List of state electoral districts in North Rhine-Westphalia 1947–1962

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of Landtag constituencies in North Rhine-Westphalia 1947–1962 contains all constituencies that were used in the first five elections to the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia .

For the first state election in 1947 , the state of North Rhine-Westphalia was divided into 150 constituencies. The division remained almost the same up to and including the state elections in 1962 . However, several renaming took place.

The naming of the constituencies in the first electoral periods differed in particular in that one could read from many constituency names where a constituency was located, for example by points of the compass or city districts. Roman numbers, as they are common today, only existed in Cologne, Dortmund and the Detmold district.

Renaming

To state election in 1950 several constituencies were renamed. Constituency 6 was now called Jülich , constituencies 24 and 25 were called Oberb.-Kreis-Nord and Oberb.-Kreis-Süd , and constituencies 26 and 27 were Rhein-Berg. Kreis-Nord and Rhein-Berg. District-South , the constituency 54 Wuppertal-Unterbarmen-Ronsdorf and the constituencies 67 and 68 Mülheim (Ruhr) -Nord and Mülheim (Ruhr) -Süd

With the state elections in 1954, the 54 and 55 were given the new names Wuppertal-Nordost and Wuppertal-Südost .

With the state elections in 1958, the constituencies of all urban, divided cities received Roman numerals, for example Duisburg I instead of Duisburg-Süd . In the names of constituencies 24 to 27, the names Oberbergischer Kreis and Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis were now written out. The constituencies 32 and 33 were renamed Mönchen-Gladbach I - Viersen and Mönchen-Gladbach II , the constituencies 48 and 49 were renamed Rhein-Wupper-Kreis-West - Leverkusen and Rhein-Wupper-Kreis-Ost after Leverkusen became circular. In addition, the addition (Ruhr) was removed from the names of the Mülheim constituencies .

For the 1962 state election , the names of constituencies 32 and 33 were changed again after Mönchen-Gladbach was renamed Mönchengladbach .
