List of parishes of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem with their church buildings

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Notes on using the table
This list is sortable. The default setting begins with parishes in Jerusalem and then lists the parishes in alphabetical order of the parish locations, but divided into four blocks according to the four parish areas (1. Israel [without Jerusalem], 2. Jerusalem and Palestinian Autonomous Areas [without the preceding in the default setting Jerusalem itself], 3. Jordan and 4. Cyprus). In addition, the list can be sorted by the name of the parish (alphabetical), the patronage of the parish (alphabetical), the name of the church (alphabetical) and the parish area (alphabetical). Under Remarks you will find information on affiliated pastoral care offices, on the spelling of place names in foreign alphabets, on the location of the place, on the history of the parish and building or other events.

The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem is an immediate ( exempte ) diocese of the Roman Catholic Church . 64 parishes ( parishes ) are subordinate to the patriarchate . The Patriarchate territorially includes Israel (without territorial expansion after 1967), Jordan , the Palestinian Autonomous Areas, the Israeli-administered areas in the West Bank and Cyprus . The Golan does not belong to the patriarchy.

Division of the parishes into areas

The 64 parishes with a good 78,000 Catholics and 85 diocesan priests (as of 2010) are divided into four parish areas. These are in alphabetical order:

  • Israel (excluding Jerusalem), for which an episcopal vicar has been appointed in Nazareth ,
  • Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, directly under the jurisdiction of the Patriarch,
  • Jordan, for which an episcopal vicar has been appointed in Amman , and
  • Cyprus, for which an episcopal vicar has been appointed in Nicosia .

The parish places, pastoral care offices and patron saints listed in the list follow the specifications of the Latin Patriarchate.
