List of winners in the 2010s NPR Jazz Critics Poll
The list of winners at NPR Jazz Critics Poll of the 2010s lists all albums and musicians who in the NPR Music Jazz Critics Poll of National Public Radio were determined from 2013 onwards. Previously, the competition was hosted by New York magazine The Village Voice .
background
In a survey by NPR Music, over 100 jazz critics were asked about their favorite recordings of the year. Berets previously conducted this annual poll by Francis Davis when, in 2006, he invited 30 of his colleagues to post rankings of their favorite records for The Village Voice, where he was a jazz critic. Since then, the survey has grown tremendously. In 2013, 136 print journalists, bloggers and broadcasters, mostly from the USA but some from Europe, nominated over 700 different albums, which were released in 2013. In the following years, the results of the respective NPR Music Jazz Critics polls were published in late December, highlighted by a playlist of the top 10 overall picks in the categories for the jazz album of the year , also with the top finishers in the Latin sections Jazz , singing, debut and reissue.
