This list of Sites of Special Scientific Interest in Dorset identifies the nature reserves designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Dorset , England . Natural England is responsible for the designation of SSSIs in England. Reasons for setting up an SSSI are fauna and flora as well as geological or physiogeographical objects. In 2012, 139 sites were designated within Dorset, 103 for biological significance, 20 for geological significance and 16 for both reasons.

Natural England succeeded English Nature in the designation and administration of the SSSIs in October 2006 when English Nature and parts of the Countryside Agency and the Rural Development Service were merged. Like its predecessor, Natural England uses the county division valid from 1974-1996 . The information in the table is taken from the respective English Nature citation sheets .
