List of top scorers of the men's soccer world championships

The list of scorers of the Football World Championships Men covers all scorers of the finals tournaments since 1930 discharged competition. The top scorers with the highest number of goals per tournament are listed, regardless of whether they were officially designated the top scorer by FIFA , with the drawing decided in 1962 , or the top scorers, as they have been awarded the Golden Shoe since 1982 . In addition, the top scorers of the respective overall competition, consisting of qualification and final round, are listed.

So far, no player has managed to win the title of top scorer twice. With 13 goals, the Frenchman Just Fontaine scored the most goals in a final round at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden . According to the current state of knowledge, the German Gerd Müller , who scored nine times in qualifying for the 1970 World Cup and scored ten final round goals in Mexico, scored the most goals in an overall competition .

So far, no player has succeeded in winning or defending the title of top scorer twice in a World Cup finals. The ranking of the countries is currently topped by Brazil with four followed by Germany with three titles, those of the confederations that represent the countries, UEFA with fourteen followed by CONMEBOL with seven titles.
