The shield shows the Jülich lion on a golden background in the first quarter. In the quarter below, the parrot on the coat of arms of Count Wilhelm von Jülich (1556) is depicted. Both figures are supposed to represent the city of Geilenkirchen. The other half is filled by the city of Heinsberg's silver lion on a red background.
