List of German feature films that premiered during the Nazi era

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

During the time of National Socialism , the films were subjected to a censorship check before they were released and could still be banned after the screening. A number of the films on this list were later banned again - see the corresponding labeling in brackets. For the feature films not approved by the film testing agency and therefore not listed, see the list of films prohibited under National Socialism . Films that were permitted in principle were often banned for young people . For the films awarded by the National Socialist state, see the list of the highest rated National Socialist feature films .

The number of weekly visits to the cinema increased from 1933 to 1939 by 2½ times. The proportion of German feature films shown, which was 62.0 percent in 1932 (the last year of the Weimar Republic ) and 37.3 percent in the Federal Republic of Germany in 2010, was 77.1 percent in the German Reich in 1939 - meanwhile the Share of American films was reduced from 25.8 percent in 1932 to 13.9 percent in 1939.

The conditions of film production in the German Reich at that time are described in the article National Socialist Film Policy .

1933

The total number of German feature films premiered was 107.
