The list of anti-refugee attacks in Germany from 1990 to 2013 records attacks and attacks on refugees and refugee accommodation in Germany for which xenophobic and racist motives are proven or likely. The list is not yet complete. Particularly serious attacks with injured, seriously injured or dead people are highlighted in red.

Unless otherwise stated, the information follows the chronicles of courage against right-wing violence , Pro Asyl and Amadeu Antonio Foundation . Historical background, counter-initiatives, literature see under Attacks hostile to refugees in the Federal Republic of Germany ; further annual lists see below.

Two girls, then six and eight years old, were seriously injured, the younger one suffered life-threatening burns. The perpetrators were sentenced by the Duisburg Regional Court to prison terms of between three and a half and five years for serious arson and bodily harm . One of the perpetrators took his own life after he was released from prison.

The cause was the spread of an already refuted rumor. The deployed police and a second, specially erected fence prevented physical attacks, but for one to one and a half weeks there were verbal insults, death threats, stone and bottle throwing that broke window panes and the mostly traumatized civil war refugees could not leave their homes . While the police only drove the attacking people away on the first evening and then allowed them to do their thing, they attacked a solidarity demonstration about a week after the Ascension of 400 people, injuring 20 people, for example. Sometimes difficult and took 140 people into custody and denied treatment to the injured. Lord Mayor Gerhard Widder expressed understanding for the concerns of the attackers and the Mannheim municipal council had previously called for the abolition of the basic right to asylum .

Frank Hübner , who has been on the city council for the NPD since 2008, was named as the “spiritual leader” .

A vigil made up of citizens and local politicians who stood in front of the home to protect them was attacked, as were the police and paramedics. After the attacks continued the following weekend, the then Interior Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Hartmut Perschau , ordered the accommodation to be closed.

Dolgenbrodt Brandenburg Wappen.svg BB Nov 1 uninhabited accommodation On the night of November 1st, a newly built asylum seekers' home burned down completely. The next day, 86 asylum seekers should have moved in there. In 1993, a 19-year-old skinhead was arrested as a suspect and sentenced to two years suspended sentence in 1996 as an arsonist. Subsequent investigations revealed that several local residents had donated money to hire radical right-wing arsonists.

Seriously injured In front of a refugee home in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen, 29-year-old Manuel T., a refugee from Mozambique, was attacked and mistreated by six Germans with baseball bats. The man has to be hospitalized with numerous injuries.

Munich Bavaria Wappen.svg BY March 4 inhabited accommodation In the prayer room of the refugee home in the Obersendling district, arsonists poured gasoline and set it on fire. The 453 refugees from 36 nations who are housed in the home were unharmed.
Friedrichsdorf Coat of arms of Hesse.svg HE March 9 inhabited accommodation 1 injured person Three neo-Nazis attacked the refugee accommodation in Pettenweiler Holzweg between Friedrichsdorf and Köppern and fired shots from a gas pistol. Six Kurdish residents finally managed to put the attackers to flight. A Kurd was hit by a bullet.

  • Bondorf (Baden-Württemberg), July 12, 1993: A refugee home burned down. The night before, two men had fired nine shots from a car at the home
  • Prenzlau (Brandenburg), July 18, 1993: In front of the refugee home, several Germans chanted National Socialist slogans and fired shots from a blank firing pistol at the house
  • Berlin-Weißensee , July 21, 1993: A hand grenade attack was carried out on a home for Bosnian war refugees. None of the 280 residents were injured

  • Potsdam (Brandenburg), October 30, 1993: arson attack. The perpetrators cut open the protective fence, entered the building and tried to throw a bottle of fire through a window.   • Küssaberg - Rheinheim (Baden-Württemberg), November 7, 1993: A residential container complex for Kurdish refugees burned out completely. The 14 residents were able to escape into the open. The fire was caused by an incendiary device that was thrown into the corridor of the container. The home had been attacked with stones months earlier, injuring two refugees
  • Friedersdorf (Saxony-Anhalt), November 18, 1993: An arson attack completely burned down a refugee barracks. People were not injured
  • Biedenkopf (Hessen), November 25, 1993: arson attack. The fire was discovered and extinguished before any major damage could be done

  • Griesheim (Hessen), December 6, 1993: Six or seven dark-clad perpetrators threw bottles into five windows of a refugee home
  • Griesheim (Hessen), December 20, 1993: arson attack. The triggering of the alarm system led to the perpetrators fleeing. The fire could be extinguished
  • Hohenstein - Steckenroth (Hessen), December 23, 1993: A bomb attack on a refugee home was prevented at the last minute. A car parked between the residential containers was on fire. When the refugees had put out the fire, they found a pipe bomb in the back seat of the car
  • Kaltenkirchen (Schleswig-Holstein), December 25, 1993: An unnamed Turk died of injuries after an arson attack on the refugee home

An eleven-year-old girl was burned to her legs, and two other children were slightly injured by broken glass. The 14 to 18 year-old right-wing extremist perpetrators were initially able to escape undetected, but were arrested a few days later and sentenced to high youth sentences in November 2000.

The right-wing extremist known to the police had prepared a highly explosive device. In mid-August, the police caught him while sticking Nazi posters and found a piece of paper in his trouser pocket on which various chemicals were noted. Since then, the neo-Nazi had been under surveillance until they were accessed.

At the time of the attack, there were eleven people there, none of whom were injured. Across the street, stocks of a pottery factory were burning. Both fires went out by themselves and the fire brigade did not have to intervene.

Attacks on refugees and refugee shelters in 2011

In 2011, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) registered 18 attacks on refugees and refugee accommodation, including twelve cases of the use of symbols from unconstitutional organizations, two cases of sedition and insult and one case of property damage and bodily harm. A suspect could be identified in five cases.

2012

According to the 2013 report by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution , there were at least 24 right-wing extremist "crimes against asylum shelters" in 2012.

Attacks on refugees and refugee shelters in 2013 (incomplete)

According to the 2014 report by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution , there were at least 55 right-wing extremist “crimes against asylum shelters” in 2013. In the previous year's report, the Federal Office wrote in the section on the National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD): “The instrumentalisation of the issue of 'asylum' reached its preliminary climax in October / November 2013 in the small Saxon town of Schneeberg with three demonstrations by the NPD against the so-called light runs - against a local asylum seekers home. ”(See Schneeberg defends himself .) The Federal Office also emphasized under the heading“ Risk of an escalation of violence ”on right-wing extremism:“ Since the middle of 2013, the security authorities have noted an increase in attacks on asylum seekers' homes and refugee accommodation. ”

The drunk offenders were temporarily taken into custody, the police started investigations into sedition and property damage.
